Hello Janet!! Poverty is not an easy situation to deal with or an easy problem to solve. I believe the only way we are going to help with this situation is by creating more women and children shelters that have the necessary resources and community involvement. What are some strategies that you believe will help decrease global poverty?
ReplyDeleteI believe that education will assist in decreasing the cycle of poverty.
DeleteJanet,
ReplyDeleteI have seen first hand how these spending cuts are affecting not only employment but programs that serve families and young children. Our local Womens, Infants, and Children (WIC) program has had to shut one office down completely, reduce the number of families it can serve and reduce hours of remaining staff. When it comes to poverty I don't believe there is an easy answer. Many people say that "education is the key to fighting poverty" but in today's society an education can be difficult to obtain with educational costs.
The cuts all across the board seem to be having rippling effects on our community and children. Improving the education system should always be at the top of the priority list but somehow it seems to fall short of the top. The poverty that is happening now is continuing to grow and it really needs to stop being fed.
